The Food Poverty Needs analysis was funded by the Health Service Executive and Department of Health via the Slaintecare Healthy Communities initiative. In 2021, Sláintecare Healthy Ireland in the Department of Health, working with the HSE and local authorities and community agencies, launched the Sláintecare Healthy Communities Programme to provide increased health and wellbeing services in 19 communities across Ireland. Cherry Orchard and Ballyfermot was one of the 19 areas identified through an evidenced-based process as an area in which health and wellbeing risk factors are particularly concentrated. The community needs analysis was undertaken under the Community Food and Nutrition strand of the Slaintecare Healthy Communities Initiative.
