The Local Development Companies Network (LDCN) supports its members to deliver high-impact early years and family supports across communities. We work closely with Túsla, the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), Pobal, the Department of Education, and other national stakeholders to ensure that programme delivery is evidence-based, inclusive, and reflective of local needs.
Family and early years issues are regularly discussed through LDCN’s Social Inclusion Oversight Forum, National Council, and relevant Communities of Practice, where frontline practitioners exchange learning and highlight emerging needs. These insights are shared with policy makers and funders, helping to shape more responsive and integrated national systems.
Local Development Companies (LDCs) are trusted providers of early years and family supports. They take a community-centred, relationship-based approach — working with families where they are, building trust, and offering holistic, non-judgmental supports that respond to real-life challenges.
LDCs provide parenting programmes, home visiting, developmental support, and afterschool services. They often work closely with schools, family resource centres, health providers and local agencies to ensure services are well-coordinated and accessible. Crucially, their work often supports families who are marginalised, isolated, or navigating complex needs — helping them build the resilience and networks that support long-term wellbeing.

When we invest in children and families, we invest in the future of our communities. LDCs help ensure that early years and family supports are accessible, responsive, and grounded in local relationships. Through LDCN, we bring the lived experience of families and communities to the heart of national policymaking — making sure that no child is left behind.
